How many times have you noticed that even a printer-friendly version of a web page wastes tons of paper? It can be thoroughly frustrating when you try to conserve resources yet still end up with stacks of paper, much of it ending up in the trash. Fortunately, PrintEco, an Illinois-based startup which will present at TECH cocktail Champaign this coming Tuesday September 7th, is on a mission to dramatically reduce printing costs in our budget and environment. So far, the startup has created plugins that substantially reduce the printing costs for consumers and companies by an average of roughly 17%.
Sick of printing out ads, webpage headers and footers, and junk? Simply visit PrintEco, enter a url into their interface and you will be presented with a cleaned up page that is ready for printing! – PrintEco
PrintEco currently has plugins for Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. We are anxious to see a version of the plugin for Apple. The plugins automatically reduce printing costs by optimizing the print jobs, which means removing unneeded images, content and spacing. Once your print job is completed, the plugin connects to PrintEco Analytics which help you keep track of how much money your organization is saving as well as your environmental impact.
Let’s go save the environment, one piece of paper at a time. 😉
