These days, not all household Internet connections rely on wires anymore. With smartphones and tablets, we have a huge need for wireless connections, such as Wi-Fi, which is why the old routers with no wireless capabilities are absolutely doomed to extinction.

The market is filled with options when it comes to choosing a wireless router, but few (if any) have capabilities like the DropAP Router, which is developed by a San Francisco tech company and is now looking for funding in the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

This new wireless router brings some innovative features, aimed at making it a centerpiece of the home. With a beautiful design that stands out from other competitors in the market, the DropAP router brings the functionality of a high performance smart router, with cloud services and mobile apps that extend its capacities beyond the home, all at a price that fits any budget.

The DropAP device functions as a concurrent dual band wireless 802.11ac Wi-Fi Access Point router. It takes security to another level by extending protection for the entire family’s devices, both inside the home and away from home. With parental controls that operate while on the home network, DropAP also has the ability to extend its parental controls functionalities to outside the house, by working directly on the children’s phones.

This brings parents some peace of mind, as they get to know that their children’s online experiences are more secure. DropAP gives parents the options to place filters on their kids’ devices with the cloud-based mobile app, as well as monitor their overall bandwidth usage.

Currently, wireless network access for guest devices requires people to remember and enter long and hard passwords. DropAP solves this problem by taking a common sense and equally secure approach by using “Zap”, a feature that securely connects devices in the proximity of the router. While this may sound insecure, the guest devices can only access the network when the “Zap” button is physically pressed on the router and the owner allows connectivity on the mobile app.

DropAP is very easy to use, as almost everything is managed through the handy mobile app. Its crowdfunding campaign is open until August 23, 2015, and it will ship in September 2015 with a MSRP of $199, which includes a one-year subscription to the DropAP cloud service.
