Have you ever left your mobile phone behind on an important trip? It can make staying connected extremely difficult and tedious. Now forgetful Android phone owners can rest easy knowing that as long as they have access to Google Chrome on their computer and MightyText downloaded on their phone, they can stay connected to those in their phone’s address book.

MightyText allows you to send and receive SMS text messages and calls via Google Chrome. It has been called a “slingbox for your phone,” by Maneesh Arora, MightyTexts’ co-founder.

MightyText is similar to Google Voice but has some key differences that make it a more appealing service. While Google Voice users can’t use their same cell phone numbers to makes calls and texts, you can with MightyText. Google Voice also sends texts to e-mail instead of through a browser in the form of an instant message like MightyText.

Currently, MightyText is only available to Android users running 2.2 OS and above.  Simply download the app from the Android Market and browser extension from Chrome, and you’re good to go.

If you’ve tried MightyText, how does it compare to Google Voice?  Do you prefer one over the other?  Leave a comment below!
