Looking for a place to float your latest business idea? Shapea.com is a web application to validate (or provide a reality check) for your potential venture.
Shapea (a blend of Shape and Idea) provides entrepreneurs in the idea stage a place to fine-tune their concept. The site allows for engagement with others around “the idea” via validation tools such as feedback, a landing page for beta sign-ups, and an analytics dashboard. The application is brand new as of this week, yet there is some interesting activity within the community that shows the application has potential to help focus would-be entrepreneurs.
After an idea is entered (all ideas are private by default), a beta sign-up page is created with its own domain based on the idea’s name. It’s hosted on Shapea’s servers, and you can promote and style the page wherever you’d like to build a list of interested parties. If you choose, release your idea to the Shapea community for comments. Members can vote it up or down and provide potentially useful feedback (e.g. your idea sounds great, but since somethingelse.com already does that, maybe you could build upon check-in’s on FourSquare…)
Software developer Sandip Agrawal, a recent graduate of Duke University, is Shapea’s creator. Knowing there are other idea sharing apps out there, his aim is to provide “the full stack” of tools to validate ideas.
Shapea will be at the Tech Cocktail DC Winter Mixer on February 2nd. Come by to check out Shapea and other local startups who will be sharing their latest innovations.
