Sit Back and Chill While Watching Your Favorite Videos With Friends

I think most people would agree that sharing experiences with others makes them even better. Social music platforms such as, which we covered here, have created a fun way for people to enjoy music together in online listening rooms and have been popping up all over the web. Quite a few services are moving toward some form of social integration, and if you’re paying attention to trends, you know why…it works!

Sharing your favorite music with others in listening rooms is great, but what about all those sweet videos you’ve been bookmarking? Doesn’t laughing at that hilarious YouTube clip by yourself get old after a while? Now with Chill, you can share all your favorite videos you find online with your Facebook friends in private viewing rooms. Users are able to log in with Facebook Connect, which will automatically post an opt-in message letting others know that you’ve started using Chill and that they should sign up as well. This auto-post message actually took some heat from Mark Zuckerberg as shown below.

Much like, Chill allows users to choose an avatar and enter viewing rooms where they can create watch-lists with friends. With Chill, instead of being a virtual DJ, you are a virtual VJ. Users can share whatever YouTube or Vimeo video they’d like, and as long as people in the viewing room continue to add videos, the watch-list will play them back-to-back. Killing time at work just turned a new page!

You need at least one other Facebook friend who is already using Chill to be able to create a viewing room and share your videos. So, those potential users without friends currently using the service will have a hard time reserving their own Chill username. This obstacle presented a problem for me at first because none of my Facebook friends were using Chill, and I needed to recruit a few to join so I could actually see what it was all about. This makes the auto-posting to your Facebook wall somewhat understandable, I suppose, as it helps Chill to recruit users.

Maybe you’ve got more Chill friends than I do on Facebook. If so, give Chill a try, and let us know what you think by leaving us a comment below!
