Many of us enjoy an outside and active lifestyle, but usually it’s done in a bit of solitude.  Maybe our friends don’t like to do activities like rock climbing, mountain biking or a myriad of other outdoor activities and you don’t want to do it “alone”.  It’s a lot more fun, enjoyable and you are more apt to continue if you have partners to follow along and give you motivation – and you can return the favor. Skimble, aims to help you make plans and find or follow your friends activities.

Skimble is the ultimate companion for your active life. With the mission to inspire active lifestyles, Skimble provides a location-based, social iPhone and web application to help you plan, track and discover activities nearby and far. Use Skimble to connect with other active people and share your achievements with friends. Whether you run, hike, bike, rock climb, ski, snowboard, kayak, canoe, do cardio, lift weights, or practice yoga and pilates, join the fun and skimble it!

With Skimble you can create “trips” which are activities that range from a simple workout at the gym, a weekend trip with your friends, to an epic adventure on the other side of the world.  Track your stats and activities from mobile phones, as well as find and track friends and how they are coming along. You can also use Skimble to find active destinations.  They also have a section called Action Lists where you can find things like the top 10 Urban Parks in America and Top Climbing Destinations in Asia, if that’s your thing.

Make sure to head over and download their iPhone app if your goal is to be more active. Skimble will be showcased at the TECH cocktail SXSW: Blackout Sunday event, presented by Microsoft BizSpark and Volusion.
