The growth of social games is exploding, and local game developer Ben Walsh is poised to grab a chunk of the $1 billion market with his new venture, Pure Bang Games.

Ben is launching his company at a great time.  As reported in the Washington Post, over 200 million people play online social games every month, and over 40% of Facebook’s users regularly play social games, making it the largest gaming platform.  Because women and tweens are playing more games than ever, and Facebook is their #1 destination, Pure Bang will focus their efforts on creating FaceBook games for those two key demographics.

We have high hopes for Pure Bang.  Ben has been in the industry for over 15 years, and he produced and designed multi-million dollar titles while at Bethesda Softworks and Big Huge Games.  Pure Bang’s first game is My Pet Rock, which allows a user to adopt and nurture a pet in a garden.  You get to customize your rock, watch it play in a garden, and even send it on dates with other rocks. Pure Bang is also currently looking to raise a round of funding, so if you are interested you might want to reach out to Ben and team – oh and tell them Tech Cocktail sent you (maybe we’ll get points). 😉
