If you are a big fan of social games, you never want to miss out on the action, but every time you want to check your game status, you have to open your browser and log in to your Facebook account to continue playing. Imagine being just one click away from your favorite games and receiving real-time notifications about what is happening in the game right on your desktop. You can do other stuff without losing track of the game, simplifying your life.

If that sounds good to you, check out Pokki, a platform that allows you to have easy access to online applications such as Facebook, Grooveshark  or Gmail without opening your browser.  Instead, you are just one click away from them. In addition, Pokki also allows the creation and distribution of desktop applications using standard web languages like HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and technologies such as WebGL and Web Audio.

Beginning today, it is also possible to access social games using the Pokki platform.  Kabam, one of the leading companies in the social gaming space, is bringing three of their top games to the Pokki platform: Dragons of Atlantis, The Godfather: Five Families and Edgeworld.

Dragons of Atlantis is a fantasy-themed strategy and combat game in which the main goal is to lead one of the four ancient tribes in the world of Atlantis. You have to build a powerful city, train troops, raise a dragon and conquer other players’ lands.

The Godfather: Five Families is a real-time strategy game in which you have to interact synchronously with other players while building resources for your family.  You have to train your thugs, unlock weapons, protect your gang and do anything possible to expand your empire.

In Edgeworld you have to build a powerful base in an alien planet, collect resources and weapons, and defend your planet against hostile forces.

As a developer, it is relatively easy to use the Pokki technology to develop and distribute easy-to-access social games.  As a plus, the Pokki team is launching a $50,000 contest to reward game developers who create new games for Pokki. This contest launches on today. The winners will be announced at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on March 5. You can find further information in:
