Baltimore-based startup SocialToaster, which will be showcased at our Baltimore mixer on March 3, is a social marketing and reporting platform that significantly increases traffic to an organization’s website using electronic word-of-mouth referrals. How significant, you ask? Their service claims to be up to ten times more effective than search engine marketing or other traditional forms of digital advertising.
SocialToaster’s patent-pending solution provides an interesting new way to effectively use social marketing. You start by recruiting customers, employees, and fans to be Brand Ambassadors. Then you create, broadcast, and manage messages that are promoted to your Ambassadors’ Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts via a centralized online control panel. Each SocialToaster post contains a unique URL and appears to come from the Ambassador themselves, resulting in higher click-through rates than traditional online advertising. SocialToaster then tracks the marketing process, which is displayed in real-time reports.
SocialToaster can be integrated with your existing corporate website to allow content on your website to be promoted to your Ambassador network. It can also be plugged into an existing content management or customer relationship management system to allow for easy tracking of the entire social marketing process.
Initial development of the platform was performed in-house under the parent company, Vision Multimedia Technologies, LLC. They recently completed a seed round from an angel investor and are currently engaged in raising Series A funding.
