CircleBack, a Vienna, VA-based company aimed at keeping user contacts up-to-date using artificial intelligence and machine learning, announced this morning that it has brought on Kevin Alansky as its Chief Marketing Officer. The news comes as a surprise, as Alansky is also the cofounder and (now) former CMO of Washington, D.C.-based SocialRadar, the Michael Chasen-led company whose tech utilizes geo-location data from social networks to provide real-time information on people nearby.

“With [SocialRadar’s] transition from a consumer mobile app to more on the business-to-business side, Michael and I discussed that it would be better for my career to look at the other mobile developers in town,” said Alansky. “I have no formal roles left at SocialRadar…but I have agreed to advise Michael from time to time.”

According to Alansky, the big draw for his new role at CircleBack is being able to join a company who’s a little more methodical when it comes to developing apps in the mobile space. He notes the company’s crowdsourcing approach, which he believes sets it apart from other companies. In his role as CMO for CircleBack, Alansky will help to accelerate the company’s consumer growth.

“Kevin’s experience building brands from startups to global leaders and his proven history of creating incredibly innovative, highly-scalable marketing in the mobile, social, and B2B spaces make him an excellent addition to our executive & marketing teams,” said CircleBack founder and CEO Manoj Ramnani in a statement.

Earlier this month, CircleBack closed a $12 million round of funding. And, from the looks of it, it’s taking full advantage of that capital.
