Our roster of Innovate Celebrate speakers includes the CTO of a robotics company, a New York Times bestseller, a sports tech maven, and top execs at Intel, Homeland Security, and GoPro. Now, we’re adding a four-time Olympic ice hockey player. Yeah, that’s right, be jealous.
In addition to her ice hockey accomplishments, Angela Ruggiero serves as Managing Director at Sports Innovation Lab, which she cofounded to serve as the leading independent market research and advisory firm delivering insights on the intersection of sports and technology.
Angela Ruggiero is also the Chief Strategy Officer for the 2024 Los Angeles Olympic Bidding Committee. It’s the city she grew up in, so it makes sense that she’d want to pair her favorite sporting event with the city of angels. She went on to graduate cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard University, where she was a four-time All-American, as well as an Academic All-American. She also holds an M.Ed. in Sports Management from the University of Minnesota and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Sound impressive? Wait until you hear she’s the current Chair of the IOC Athlete’s Commission and a Member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee. And a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation’s Athlete’s Commission. And the IOC liaison to the newly formed International Rugby Board Athletes’ Commission. And serving on the Foundation board of the World Anti-Doping Agency. And is also on the Executive Board of the Women’s Sports Foundation.
Trust me, I’ve leaving out the majority of the boards she’s on. I have no idea how she finds the time. She probably got used to it after becoming just the fourth woman to make it into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015 after winning a gold medal in 1998, silvers in 2002 and 2010, and bronze in 2006.
Interested in hearing what Angela Ruggiero has to say? You won’t need to win any gold medals in order to sit in on her speech. Just check out Innovate Celebrate.
Make sure to join us at the Innovate Celebrate conference in San Francisco, CA. The event will take place October 9-11, and it is held in partnership with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).
