The Impending Spectrum Shortage [Infographic]

The available spectrum won’t be able to handle all our mobile data use by 2013, the FCC estimated in 2010.

That same year, President Obama declared that the government would make 500 megahertz of its spectrum available for commercial wireless broadband by 2020 – spectrum to help carry the traffic from smartphones that will only keep growing. On Tuesday, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration issued a report with the initial steps in that plan.
