A new startup is looking to change all of that. Spacious, a New York City-based startup, is focusing on the power of coworking to bring traffic to some of New York’s restaurants during off-peak hours. Cofounded by Preston Pesek and Chris Smothers, they’re joining forces to bring spaces for freelancers and remote workers to remain productive. And working this way allows for both businesses and independent workers to have the best of both worlds – bringing in business for these restaurants that would otherwise be closed before 6 p.m, but also allowing independent workers a space to be social and productive.
The introduction to coworking spaces like Spacious also utilizes an important work culture trends – the need for unconventional workspaces. For independent workers to reach their peak productivity, having a space that encourages a casual and interactive atmosphere is just as important as any other independent worker essential.
For Spacious’s cofounders, hospitality and consistency are high on the list of what’s important for users. And by merging the food culture of New York City with the growing tech industry, there’s sure to be more movement in the food startup space.
