There are so many cool apps out there, but one I really love is Retrollect, a free mobile app that lets you create a visual mashup of your life and that I covered back in May. It has been retooled into a new and improved Retrollect 2. They recoded their iPhone app and made it easier to create and share mashups (which appear as old school ViewMaster discs – love that). They also redesigned their disc pages, so if you haven’t been in a while, you’ll see the difference.
On a more serious note, SocialShield, a company that scans and analyzes social networking activity, just added Formspring to the list of social networks that they can monitor. A year and a half ago, a teen’s suicide was linked to malicious taunts on her account, which really shows the importance of such tools.
OK, back to fun stuff: The NYC-based startup Sqoot that we just showcased at Tech Cocktail NYC last month, has added a lot more daily dails in 50+ new categories, making it more tempting to add their daily deal API to your website or app. Though their focus is on local deals, if none are available on any given day, you now get a national deal. They also created Shortcuts to make it easy to access deals and provide faster, more detailed reporting.
Finally, mobile marketplace Grabio, added a new feature called Wish List, a real-time search personal assistant. Just add a keyword of what you want or need, and Grabio will send you a push notification when it finds it. Great way to score tickets to a sold out concert or find a couch for your new apartment. You can download the iOS app here.
We love to keep in touch with startups we have covered previously, so send Tech Cocktail your updates here.
