Get ready, Southerners: Steve Case just announced that his third Rise of the Rest tour will be coming to the south in May and awarding startups $500,000.

The Rise of the Rest bus tours highlight and celebrate entrepreneurial activity in emerging startup regions between the coasts. This time the tour will stop in:

  • Richmond, Virginia (May 4)
  • Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (May 5)
  • Charleston, South Carolina (May 6)
  • Atlanta, Georgia (May 7)
  • New Orleans, Louisiana (May 8)

In each city, Case will host a pitch competition where judges award $100,000 to one lucky startup. And there’s still time to get in: interested startups can apply to pitch before April 20.

“I  look forward to celebrating the promise of these rising communities, making investments in local startups, and shining a light on the importance of entrepreneurship in the American south and across the nation,” says Case.

During the tour, Case and his Revolution team will also visit local startups and accelerators, meet with investors and government officials, and host a rockin’ party. “I’m so excited to be joining this tour,” says our CEO Frank Gruber, who will be on the bus. “Tech.Co loves highlighting local startup ecosystems and I can’t wait to see what’s cooking in the south.”

Last June, the first Rise of the Rest tour visited Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Nashville, followed in October by another tour to Madison, Minneapolis, Des Moines, Kansas City, and St. Louis.

The Rise of the Rest tour is presented by Revolution, UP Global, and Google for Entrepreneurs, and Tech.Co is joining on as a partner this year.
