Ever want to turn your iPhone into a powerful remote control? Well now you can. DC-area based startup, MashedPixel has created a new iPhone case and application called Surc.

Surc is a universal learning remote control (URC) that provides users with anywhere, anytime control over InfraRed (IR)-enabled electronic devices and appliances. The Surc case snaps onto your iPhone and, with the companion free app users can control devices found either from our extensive database, by pairing with existing remotes, or by importing devices from the community. You can control devices at home, at your friends homes, at work, at the local bar – anywhere you take your phone you can control the IR-enabled devices.

If you’re in the DC area, come meet the MashedPixel team as they showcase their new product Surc at tonight’s Washington, D.C. Tech Cocktail mixer event at Slaviya in Adams Morgan.
