SweetLabs recently announced Mixtape, the winner of first Pokki Challenge, “a contest that rewards web developers and designers for creating awesome desktop applications using HTML5.” The panel of four judges received more than 60 innovative applications over the course of just 6 weeks.
Mixtape, created by Mohamed Tedjani Metfah, took home the $30,000 grand prize for it’s sleek mashup app. Mixtape allows music fanatics to listen to the best Internet radio, with mixes curated by people who know and love music, completely free of charge.
Coming in second place, was Chess by Jeet Singh, taking home the $13,000 runner-up prize. This traditional game has an unconventional twist that allows players to watch simulated replays from famous matches and learn tactics. Of course, users also have the opportunity to test their hand against the challenging computer opponent.
And taking home the third place prize of $7,000 was Instagrille, a photo app by Denis Denisyuk based on the popular Instagram service. Instagrille allows users to “see fun and gorgeous photos from your closest friends, and creative people from around the world.”

SweetLabs, also the creators of OpenCandy, is no stranger to breeding innovation in a high-paced, exciting environment. Earlier this year Tech Cocktail covered OpenCandy’s Hackathon San Diego, a 23-consecutive hour contest which also rewarded the top web application with custom engraved iPads.
