Are you starting up in Chicago and looking for an office to run your day-to-day?

TechNexus should be on your consideration list.

In combining elements of co-working, incubation, and virtual offices, TechNexus is attempting to cover all the small business bases.  In the eyes of TechNexus’ managing partner, Terry Howerton, the real value of his office space is the people.

“Companies have access to formal and informal mentoring, structured networking, and regular whiteboard sessions.”

The strength of TechNexus’ network is a sentiment shared by Vera Kimmi, Account Manager with the TechNexus-based Forte Group.  “You will save yourself a lot of time and money by having a short conversation with Terry or Fred [Hoch].  You’ll get insight without giving up a large chunk of your company, get connected to the network and get necessary resources as needed.”

In the less than five years since opening its doors, this Chicago-based office space has played host in some capacity to more than 100 companies, ranging from smaller-scale startups like SpotHero to larger organizations such as Clean Energy Trust and Motorola.  “We see tremendous value in including representatives from both large and small businesses, as the collaborative environment of TechNexus benefits both,” adds Howerton.

As for the co-working landscape, TechNexus attempts to blend private space with fostering collaboration. “Instead of a big open space, we’ve divided the real estate into pods, where a small cluster of companies can work in a shared space,”  says Howerton.  “Collaborating companies also have access to conference rooms. Placing dozens of companies in a room together simply doesn’t work.”  In other words, the space is functional – in Kimmi’s words, “It is an established mid western values space. It works without need to be glitzy.”

Interested businesses should look into “getting a key to the clubhouse” at TechNexus.
