The Disruptiveness of Social Media – Update

In the 5 days since we published our article The Disruptiveness of Social Media regarding the power of social media and it’s effects on Hosni Mubarak (who has since resigned from office and we’re not claiming credit) and Daniel Snyder, owner of the Redskin’s and the lawsuit against the Washington City Paper, many journalists have piled on including articles of condemnation from Wall Street Journal, the Economist and the Washington Post.

Today, Slate even tweeted the following with a link to our article that read:

“The lesson that, hopefully, Hosni Mubarak and Dan Snyder are learning …” #Egypt #Jan25 #SnyderLibel”

For those of you keeping score, the updates on comments, Facebook  likes and Tweet numbers are still rising.  According to the counters on the Washington City Paper Article, the number of Tweets rose from 554 to 581 and Facebook likes rose from seven thousand to eight thousand in less then a week. Here’s an updated weekly graph of comments left on the article.
