In what I hope will be a regular monthly column, I am checking in with 3 startups that I covered this spring and summer. All of them have great new features that I wanted to share with you. If you want to be included in a future post, keep reading.
When we last wrote about Write on Glass from Border Stylo in June, you needed to download a browser extension to mark up web pages and have conversations around those markups. Kiss those downloads goodbye! They just repackaged the tool and launched GlassThis, which gives you the same functionality without the need of a browser extension.
SocialGuide, which helps you find the TV shows that people are watching and talking about, has launched a social TV ratings system called The Social 100. This feature should make it much easier to find new shows, as it tracks social media activity around TV programming and ranks the most social programs, episodes, primetime, sports events, and networks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Their first report covered July – Basketball Wives was the most social program in primetime and Family Guy was the most overall social program across all airings.
The Echo Nest:
I last covered The Echo Nest, a music intelligence company, in June when they had just announced EchoPrint, an open-source music fingerprint service for developers. Now they have released an iPhone/iPod app with PRX (Public Radio Exchange) called Bandito, which scans your iTunes Library and the web to create a personalized magazine the features artist news and reviews for your most listened to tracks. You can also get info on popular and trending artists.
In a call with The Echo Nest CEO Jim Lucchese yesterday, he said they are always looking to form partnerships with good music app developers to create more useful apps, like Bandito, for music aficionados. So developers, if you are into music, get in touch with The Echo Nest!
Send me your startup’s updates!
If we have covered your startup in the past, and you have launched or will be launching new features, apps, add-ons, whatever, let me know! You can email me at email@example.com.
