The White House iPhone Application

Today the White House announced the White House iPhone application to help connect people to real-time updates, news, photos and video via their mobile phone. This is a historic technological advancement for the U.S. government as they have never released a mobile application like this before for any platform (Blackberry, Palm, iPhone, etc).

The application offers updates from the White House Blog and the latest from the Briefing Room, behind-the-scenes photos and on-demand videos.  Interestingly, the application will also stream live video coverage of special events. For example, anyone with this app can watch the President’s public events at the White House, frequent web chats with Administration officials, and other events like key speeches and press briefings in real time. So aside from being televised and streamed on the Web, next week’s State of the Union Presidential address will be available live streaming through the iPhone application.
