This or That, created by Great Time Apps, is a simple categorization trivia game for the iPhone which asks a user to decide if an item is part of this group or that one. The game is universal and can fit any category or niche. But what makes it most interesting is that in order to explore the long tail of trivia, the creator is opening an “Author Network” that will allow revenue sharing with authors, experts, performers and brands to find a new way to engage their fans, while promoting the application. Partners like HDNet’s Inside MMA, AlDavisPlusThePoints.com sports podcast, and comedian Rick Katschke are all creating and promoting content for the This or That application, and will begin releasing premium in-app content through the network soon.
This or That is the second release by Great Time Apps. In 2009 they released Drink Specials App, an interactive drink specials platform that uses the power of your iPhone’s GPS to give you specials that are available near you, right now. It’s community driven in that the specials are added by individuals – anyone who sees a special at a bar that’s not in the app can add it in. Verifying, striking and updating data is key to keeping the app useful, which is why they also created what they call “ambassadors” who have the ability to update specials already listed in the app. Users can apply to be ambassadors just by submitting their info and why they are interested in the job.
Eli Gratz, the man behind Great Time Apps, is based in Milwaukee but will be on hand demoing at Mobile TECH cocktail Chicago 2 this Thursday, June 24th.
