Review Trackers: Track Your Company’s Reviews Online

Review Trackers’s journey has been a little windy: the idea didn’t start out as a startup, yet founder Chris Campbell will soon be boarding a plane to Santiago to attend the 3-month Start-Up Chile program.

Review Trackers makes software for businesses to monitor their reviews online. You can see relevant reviews from sites like Yelp and OpenTable for restaurants or TripAdvisor and Expedia for hotels, sort through the positive and negative ones, and respond to dissatisfied customers. Plus, it integrates with programs that businesses already use to manage customer service.

In the Q&A below, Campbell talks about his journey from there to here.

Tech Cocktail: What was the inspiration behind Review Trackers?

Chris Campbell: I have been doing digital marketing consulting for a few years, and last fall a client came to us saying, “We are trying to track our reviews – how can we do it?” We stepped up to the challenge and said that we would help them solve their problem. After trying a few of the available tools and having a deeper discussion with our client about what they really needed, we realized we needed to build a solution for them. We built a better mousetrap that really solved the problems of multi-location businesses trying to track their online reviews. Fast forward to today: we have been tracking that company’s reviews for over 8 months and we are in beta testing of our platform to help more businesses track their online reviews.

I am a lifelong problem solver and this is my next puzzle I am working to solve.

Tech Cocktail: What are the biggest advantage and disadvantage of starting up in Chicago?

Campbell: I grew up here, the startup community is perfect for our service (B2B, SaaS), and I do not know a better place to spend the summer months. But I am moving to Santiago next week, as our company was accepted into Start-Up Chile. This question is always a weird one for our company. Our company is based in Florida but our team is stretched across the globe – Chicago, Pittsburgh, Santiago, Manila, and Hyderabad.

Tech Cocktail: What’s one quirky fact about your team?

Campbell: Most of us have never actually met in person, but we have been working together for years.
