Fitness trackers have become the go-to technology for avid athletes, health nuts, and people still holding out hope that they can keep their new year’s resolution alive. These tiny devices are designed to blend into your wardrobe while providing up-to-the-minute data about everything from steps taken to calories consumed. And while the market is flooded with different sizes, colors, and battery lives, one company has set themselves apart.

Tushi Rocks, a fitness company that believes helping people is just as important as good business, has created Tushi Pal, the world’s first fair trade fitness tracker. It comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a fitness tracker, all while coming from a company that puts the needs of people before the needs of their company.

The features of the Tushi Pal include 24/7 optical heart-rate monitoring, sleep and activity tracking, smartphone integration, remote photo capture, gesture sensing, and anti-loss support. In addition, every Tushi Pal comes with a one-of-a-kind woven case handcrafted by skilled Mayan artisans, labeled with their signature to make each one unique. By purchasing a Tushi Pal, not only are consumers getting a high-quality, accurate tracker, but they are helping provide jobs to those in need.

“Pal is much more than just a wearable tracker,” said Arturo Arvizu, cofounder of Tushi, in their Indiegogo campaign video. “As a company, we have always been interested in social awareness. We wanted to merge three basic concepts: technology, hand-crafted traditions and design.”

Tushi Pal is in the middle of a successful Indiegogo campaign. They’re hoping to get enough funding to keep the fair trade fitness tracker business going. Early bird models are still available for only $79, despite the fitness tracker passing their $15,000 goal with ten days to spare. Products are estimated to ship very soon.
