Baltimore is quickly becoming a terrific hot spot for technology with a burgeoning community of people and companies doing some pretty cool stuff. On the heels of some very successful tech events in the Baltimore area comes news of a another great event from the tech writer for the Baltimore Sun, Gus Sent.  It is called Baltimore CrowdPitch, produced by a company called Funding Universe which:

… connects qualified entrepreneurs with active VC’s, angel investors and lending sources. In addition, FundingUniverse provides services to help entrepreneurs prepare for investment, such as helping them create compelling business plans and pitches, advising them on strategic business direction, and preparing them for investor scrutiny.

So what is the CrowdPitch concept?  Here is how it is going to work.

Pitching Companies:
FundingUniverse will select several companies to present on-stage at the CrowdPitch event.  The presenting companies will complete a mandatory coaching session on February 23, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm MST.

Panel of Experts:
A panel of experts have agreed to judge the CrowdPitch presentations

Audience Participation:
Attendees in the audience will receive $100 of “FUN” money that they will use to “invest” in their favorite company pitch.  After all of the presentations, the audience will place their “FUN” money into their favorite CrowdPitch presentation.

Selecting the Winning Presenters:
After all of the presentations, 2 winning presenters will be announced based on the amount of  “FUN” money that is “invested”

The winner will be receiving over $10,000 in services form the event sponsors.
