Looking for a job is a long and arduous process. After sending out hundreds of resumés, writing thousands of cover letters, and filling out millions of forms asking you to rewrite your entire resumé even after they already had you attach it, a short job interview process sounds like a welcomed respite from the paperwork hell you’ve been going through. Fortunately, someone has put together all the information you need on where to find the shortest job interview process in the country.

According to data from Glassdoor, Kansas City, KS has the shortest average job interview process in the US. At a meager 16.9 days, this midwestern haven will have you contacted, interviewed, and hired in a little bit longer than a fortnight. Kansas City is a hub for rail transportation, manufacturing and distribution, three industries that require fast turnover to maintain quality and efficiency, which might explain the fast paced interview process.

Fast interview processes sound pretty great when it comes to being a potential employee. The real question, however, becomes whether or not a fast interview process is beneficial for the companies in question. And as far as this study is concerned, it could go either way:

“Companies face a tradeoff between more carefully screening job seekers and filling vacant roles as quickly as possible,” said Dr. Andrew Chamberlain, chief economist of Glassdoor and author of the study. “If slower hiring processes result in better hires, those delays can be good for the business long term. If not, they can be wasteful and risk losing top candidates to the competition.”

As a founder, this tradeoff can be a hard one to make. But as a potential employee, fast is always better. And if you want to make sure your interview process doesn’t take longer than a couple of weeks, check out the cities below and maybe go on a road trip to find out if they’re right for you.
