Downtown Las Vegas-based co-working space /usr/lib is set to close on Thursday, January 30th. Located above The Beat Coffeeshop (at the corner of 6th and Fremont), the space is currently run by Downtown Project’s Work In Progress, which operates two other co-working spaces nearby.

Back in 2011, /usr/lib was the venue for the Vegas Tech Jelly, which acted as an initial gathering for the Vegas Tech community. Rick Duggan wrote on about some of those early experiences…

A small group of folks invited by Dylan Bathurst attended, none of us having any idea that within a few months the event would grow to hosting over 150 people. Since there was no existing space, it was held at The Beat Coffeehouse, though a few months later it moved into the /usr/lib space upstairs.

No official word yet on how the space will be used.
