Vilynx has come a long way since we first wrote about them back in May of 2013. In addition to a brand facelift, they’ve also hauled in $1.9 million in funding from the New York VC Ridgewood Capital.

“Vilynx Producer is a unique technology that is needed in the video space right now. We are proud to make a second investment in this company to help accelerate the growth,” says Joe Golden, an investor in Vilynx.

The Vilynx team is going to put the funding towards expanding their customer base with publishers, universities, and ecommerce.

“Video players have not changed for 20 years. They’re still just a thumbnail picture and a play button, which plays the video from the beginning,” says Juan Carlos Riveiro, CEO and co-founder of Vilynx. “Viewers of online video today need more, and Vilynx is here to provide that. Our mission is to provide a window to every video online.”

This builds nicely off the foundational platform they already had; Vilynx revolves around the idea of protecting your video content via managing your personal videos for you. That is, when you record a new video in the app or import one from your library, Vilynx uploads it to your cloud storage account and generates a 5 second video summary.

Additionally, they’ll promote their first enterprise product Producer, which was recently launched, while bolstering its dynamic visual navigation for videos. They’ve run this new technology through a gauntlet of tests and have been able to validate their hard work with results.

Video views, or click-throughs, have increased on affiliates by a factor of 3 times while the viewing time on videos has increased by a factor of 6 times. And all the while, behind the scenes, Vilynx continually runs their comprehensive data analytics.

Their mission is simple as they move forward: change the way people watch online video content by making it instantly discoverable.

“Vilynx provides unlimited potential for improving how video is consumed,” says Riveiro.
