Video sharing site Vimeo has just launched Vimeo Video School – an effort by the company to create “a fun place for anyone to learn how to make better videos”.

The proliferation of video capturing devices that shoot high definition video images (e.g. smartphones, digital cameras, etc.) has made almost everyone a videographer.  Vimeo aims to capture these amateur users as well as experienced professionals.

Lessons include a combination of text, diagrams, and video to explore a technique.  Some of the available lessons include Make a Great Holiday Video and Capturing Good Sound,

From Vimeo’s blog:

“We realized that one of the best ways we could nurture the incredible range of creativity on the site would be to build a system that easily allows members of all skill levels to learn more about making videos and expand their knowledge base. We’re covering everyone, from people picking up a video camera for the first time, to seasoned pros that need info on the newest technology.”
