While snow has made an early entry into our fall season, what better way to start your day then a warm bowl of oatmeal on National Oatmeal Day today (doubtful this was created by Hallmark to sell more cards).
What does this have to do with technology? To call attention to National Oatmeal Day, Quaker Oats embraced the food truck craze and took to the streets of Chicago to deliver oatmeal to folks around the Chicagoland area. We’ve seen the food truck craze come through DC, LA, Chicago and New York, and startups like thestrEATS and others have taken note and put together a business to help fuel the passion for street vendor food trucks.
If you were not in Chicago and wanted to take part in the food truck action today, turn to the web. Quaker leveraged social media and virtual gifting to offer oatmeal fans the opportunity to get in line at the virtual Quaker Oats-Mobile food truck via Facebook and Twitter – you have a chance to win a yearʼs worth of Instant Quaker Oatmeal.
If the virtual food truck is not enough, oatmeal fans can also follow @QuakerOats and tweet #OatmealDay to win other great prizes. I tweeted about it earlier here. You can do the same and spread the love for oatmeal across the Web. You might win something warm and toasty to start the morning off right. 🙂
