Last night the great people of our nation’s capital packed the halls of the Crystal Tech Fund in Crystal City to celebrate Tech Cocktail’s Washington D.C. Mixer & Startup Showcase. Of the 12 startups that participated in the pitch competition, only 2 would walk away with the crowning victory: one selected by our reader base and the second chosen in the heat of the moment at the event.
Of course we couldn’t have done it without help from The Crystal Tech Fund, Vornado Charles Smith, American Airlines, TechBreakfast, and Startup Jackpot. And all of us at Tech Cocktail want to give a big shout out to you, the people, for making our events awesome.

Washington D.C.’s Hottest Showcasing Startup – Best Pitch
Kovue: They solve the perennial problem of having so many channels on TV but not knowing what to watch and who to watch with. Since its creation, TV has been largely a one-on-one experience between the viewer and the TV. Viewing with friends meant they had to physically be in the same room to watch together. Kovue turns television into a real-time social viewing experience with friends unrestricted by physical barriers or location. Sometimes one doesn’t want to pick up the phone to call someone to talk or catch up. Kovue provides a personal yet informal way to catch up with friends and family via voice chat over a TV show or sports match.
Congratulations to KlickOrder and KoVue. Your win includes an invitation to a future Tech Cocktail Week, as well as inclusion at Tech Cocktail Celebrate, our national startup showcase held in Downtown Vegas in October.
