The social television startup WatchParty, which we’ve written about before, has partnered with the Global Organization for Maternal and Child Health (Go-MCH) and Every Mother Counts (EMC) to help get conversations going about, and increase awareness of, maternal mortality around the globe.

As part of EMC’s Count Me In! Campaign, WatchParty will create online watch parties for the premiere of No Woman No Cry, a new documentary directed by Christy Turlington Burns, on May 7th at 9:30pm EDT (Mother’s Day eve) on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

“This is an extremely important issue, and when I heard about the film I knew we had to do something to help,” said Richard Fawal, founder and CEO of WatchParty. “Providing a way for people to discuss the film while they watch will raise awareness of the problem and, we hope, encourage people to be a part of the solution.”

Individuals, organizations and corporations are invited to host a WatchParty of their own by inviting friends, family and colleagues to take part in the conversation while watching this important television premiere. The service is free for everyone at WatchParty.tv/CountMeIn.
