Today WeHostels, a mobile app designed to help budget-conscious travelers book accommodations around the world, launched their iPad app. The New York City-based startup is backed by an international group of VCs including Quotidian Ventures, Ventech, German Ventures, and CAP Ventures.

WeHostels is hoping to extend the reach of their user base by tapping the 20 million iPad users Apple has acquired in the last quarter. Also, their iPad app hit the streets before other heavy hitters in the field like Airbnb, Hotelworld, and Couchsurfing.

“Students and schools are a segment of the market in which the iPad is gaining traction,” says the WeHostels team in their press release. “A big portion of our users are college students; therefore, the introduction of the iPad app makes a lot of sense.”

Through the app, users can access over 40,000 budget accommodations the world over, including high quality hostels, budget hostels, and bed and breakfasts. To ensure pleasant options, WeHostels users rate and review their lodging options based on quality and safety.

The last minute planner in today’s world needs an avenue to book affordable options wherever they may stay. When it comes to international events like Rio’s Carnival or Munich’s Oktoberfest, WeHostels will find a place for you to rest your head after partying your face off.

As they move forward and implement updates to stay on top of the market, WeHostels is hoping to become the world’s largest mobile travel agency for the youth segment. They want to turn your mobile device into the remote control for your upcoming trip: press play already.
