Innovative, futuristic, geeky – all words that come to mind when describing the massive trade show that is International CES. But so do words like cute, crazy, and kooky. Here are some of the odder innovations from the CES floor.
In partnership with iHip, Snooki of Jersey Shore (Nicole Polizzi) unveiled a line of tech gear that includes headphones, handsets, and iPad covers featuring lots of shine, glitter, and animal prints.
Made by NeuroSky, these cat ears tap into your brain waves to perk up when you’re focused, droop down when you’re relaxed, and even wiggle when you’re “in the zone.” You can also get devil horns. Price: $99.95.
Made by Vietnamese company Tosy, mRobo is a robot that plays music and dances along to it. It was first unveiled by Justin Bieber at CES 2012. Of course, it has its own routine for “Gangnam Style” (the fun starts at 0:45):
It’s a USB cable that’s also a bracelet, coming in a wide variety of colors and patterns. You can even get a customized design. The cable has connects with devices like the iPhone and iPod.
Trojan made it out to CES to give away free samples of its Pulse Intimate Massager. Attendees seemed surprised to see the popular condom maker at a geeky electronics show – “I bet my wife didn’t expect me to bring this home,” one remarked. Company representatives assured me that they have a whole department of people coming up with new innovations in condoms and vibrators. Here’s what the line looked like:
