Augmented reality (AR), a live direct or indirect view of a physical real-world environment where elements are merged with virtual or computer imagery, is becoming more prevalent and eventually will become mainstream in vehicles and other real-time devices. WhereMark, a DC-based startup, is an augmented reality application for the iPhone focused on bringing local points of interest into your real-life view.

WhereMark demoed it’s iPhone application at our February TECH cocktail DC mixer event. Now WhereMark is looking to take it a step further by offering “WhereMark Connect” which will allow users to create their own location based content from the web or their mobile device, share it with their social networks, and access it from anywhere. WhereMark Connect will be able to deliver advertising of significant relevance based on these connections.

WhereMark will be on hand at MOBILE TECH cocktail DC on May 5th to share their latest creation as a showcased startup.
