The dinner table used to be a place for amicable conversation, funny jokes, and, depending on who you invited to Thanksgiving dinner this year, heated political debates. However, since the inception of the smartphone, it has become harder and harder to engage with family and friends while enjoying a hot meal. Fortunately, someone is doing something about it.

Will Ferrell, along with Common Sense Media, have put together a few PSA videos that show just how annoying it is to be on your smartphone at the dinner table. From cat filters to low batteries, these videos do an incredible job of showing what life must be like for most parents from the perspective of someone a liiiiiiittle bit older.

The campaign, which paired with the Common Sense Census, a report on media use in children from zero to eight from Common Sense Media, to further illustrate the notable change in daily life that technology has fostered in the last decade.

“Our independent research is designed to provide parents, educators, health organizations, and policymakers with reliable, independent data on children’s use of media and technology and the impact it has on their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development,” reads the report.

Check out some of the videos below and remember to keep your smartphone to yourself when it comes to everyone’s favorite meal:
