About.me is quickly growing to internet notoriety, and, personally, it’s my favorite way to promote myself via social media. Why, you might ask? It’s simple: About.me is simple. The platform combines the flair of Facebook with the professionalism of LinkedIn, and every day more people make a page for themselves.
Since 2010 the company has remained somewhat quiet with regard to their expansion efforts. But today the CEO of About.me Tony Conrad announced that his company has raised $11 million in it’s second round of funding. Participating groups include Bullpen Capital, Foundry Group, CrunchFund, True Ventures, and SoftTech VC.
In addition to the funding Brad Feld, a partner at Foundry Group, will join the board at About.me per their funding agreement. The funding is said to go towards adding new features and, if you can believe it, making the already easy platform easier to use.
The grander idea behind this round of funding is for About.me to carve out a space in the online identity world, and they’re specifically targeting Facebook.
