Coding bootcamps have proven to the cure for a workforce that isn’t qualified to handle the complicated technologies that rule the business world today. They are relatively short, they are taught by experts, and they provide an avenue to employment after graduation. And one well-known coding bootcamp has made an effort to focus on engineering thanks to a huge investment from a Malibu CEO.
That’s right, LA-based Codesmith has just raised a $1.1 million funding round led by Chad Troutwine, the CEO of Veritas Prep. The investment will help to add more online classes to their already impressive offerings.
“Codesmith, the leading advanced software engineering school in the US is announcing a $1.1m round of investment to bring their unique coding education focused on technical excellence, communication and community to new students in Los Angeles,” read the funding announcement.
As the largest privately owned test prep company in the world, Veritas Prep is already teaching thousands of students per year by offering live online test prep to more students than any other program in the US. This investment into Codesmith will seek to make the importance this kind of tech education that much more apparent.
“We built Codesmith to give talented people a path to creative independence whatever their background or stage in life,” said Will Sentance, the CEO of Codesmith to Tech.Co. “We want to ensure that the dedication to every student, the tight-knit community and innovative curriculum that’s led to such remarkable outcomes is strengthened and made available to as many people as possible.”
Codesmith was founded by Sentance and Troutwine in 2014 in an effort to provide students with the skills they needed to become at least mid-level software programmers in a short period of time. The movement has grown to a include a bevy of online courses, workshops, and events that aim to guide the future employees of tomorrow into a field that needs more help than anyone ever thought.
