Facebook Announces FbStart, a Free but Competitive Support Program for Mobile Startups

FbStart

At the Facebook Developers Conference f8 today, Facebook announced the launch of a support program for mobile startups called FbStart.

Startups building iOS and Android apps can apply to the program, which includes thousands of dollars of tools and services from Facebook’s partners. It’s divided into two tracks:

The Bootstrap track is for early-stage startups that launched recently. You get up to $5,000 of perks, including $50 Facebook ad credit and $100 Parse credit.

The Accelerate track is for early-stage startups who are more established and have shown the potential for growth. You get up to $500 Facebook ad credit and $100 Parse credit. This track has fewer spots.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and Facebook promises to respond to yours within two weeks. They expect the program to be full by June, with the first batch graduating in April 2015.

For the Bootstrap track, we’ll be looking for high-quality apps that are policy-compliant and offer an engaging user experience. For Accelerate, we’ll be looking beyond this for apps that have also sustained a period of growth and engagement, as well as international success,” the website explains.

To apply, your app must have been live on the app store for 30 days. Interestingly, your app doesn’t have to integrate with Facebook, and you don’t even need to be a Facebook Developer. Sign up here to get updates on the program and how to apply.
