Startup Institute is launching a one-day workshop called GET UNSTUCK to give professionals a better idea of how to navigate today’s digital career landscape. With this workshop, the Startup Institute team hopes that people can “position themselves for a variety of job opportunities in the tech sector including web development, web design, digital marketing, and high-growth sales”.
Cofounder and program director, Shaun Johnson, said: “according to a recent Gallup Poll, 70 percent of Americans report feeling unfulfilled in their professional lives — I think that’s tragic. We created this one-day workshop to help people avoid the fate of wasting one-third of their life unhappy.”
These workshops – launching in New York, Chicago and Boston – keeps the attendees’ needs in mind. With the focus on individual strengths and incorporating these strengths to in-demand skills for the various industries attendees are breaking into, the workshop will also feature personalized career mentorship and valuable company connections for future projects.
So what does the Startup Institute team believe the GET UNSTUCK workshops will achieve? For vice president of marketing, Dana Cordova, she says:
“The idea for GET UNSTUCK was born from The Core Curriculum of our full-time, 8-week program that helps people find meaningful work in the innovation sector. Everyone does The Core regardless of the track they choose—and we just said ‘hey, these exercises are having real impact for our students, why not share it with a wider audience regardless of whether they want to go into tech?’ It’s design thinking for your career. Everyone can benefit from it.”
Johnson also had a few words on the future of the workshops:
“It’s hard to push against external momentum, and it’s hard to wrestle with our own fears. But, there is another way. A path of actionable achievement that includes hands-on tactics, customized strategies, and deep emotional introspection. We’re excited to bring these tools to a wider audience.”
Workshops like Startup Institute‘s GET UNSTUCK have a strong influence on professionals who are just starting out and trying to figure out their own footing in this complicated landscape. Here’s to the hope that more initiatives like it will soon follow suit.
