Google Pixel 3 XL – What You Need to Know

Unless you’re fluent in Russian, digging through these leaks is going to be a bit of a chore. Lucky for you, we’ve asked and answered all the pertinent questions you might have about the Google Pixel 3 XL.

When is the Google Pixel 3 XL available?

The Google Pixel 3 XL will be available on 4 October 2018. While this date isn’t official quite yet, Brandon Lee of This Tech Today found a listing, created by Google on Famebitthat decisively (albeit accidentally) revealed the launch date for the flagship smartphone.

What comes in the Google Pixel 3 XL box?

Google Pixel 3 XL BoxThanks to a few Russian bloggers, we know exactly what comes in the box with the Pixel 3 XL. In addition to the phone, you’ll get a charger, a charging cable, and an audio jack dongle.

As an added bonus, the Google Pixel 3 XL comes with what appears to be a USB-C wired version of the Google Pixel Buds, although we’re still not sure if they have the translation capabilities of the wireless version.

How big is the Google Pixel 3 XL?

According to multiple rumors, the Pixel 3 XL will have a whopping 6.7 inch display, dwarfing even the Samsung Galaxy Note 9‘s 6.4 inch display. Plus, it’s been reported that it will be a 2960 × 1440 pixel display. that’s a massively detailed resolution, so all those amazing pictures will look even better.

Is the Google Pixel 3 XL waterproof?

Yes! Like the Pixel 2, the Pixel 3 XL will be able to survive a dunking, just like many  waterproof phones on the market today. While no information has been released about exactly how waterproof the phone will be, it’s safe to say it won’t be worse than its predecessor, which could last 30 minutes in 3 feet of water.

Does the Google Pixel 3 XL have a headphone jack?

No! An important measure in effective waterproofing, the Pixel 3 XL, like its predecessor, will not have a headphone jack. You’ll have to use an adaptor dongle or stick to wireless headphones.

How much will the Google Pixel 3 XL cost?

We don’t know yet – While there have been quite a few leaks, none of them have mentioned price yet. This is likely on purpose, because no one gets excited about how much a smartphone is going to cost.

How good is the camera on the Google Pixel 3 XL?

Very good – With a single camera on the rear and two cameras housed in the massive notch on the front, the Pixel 3 XL will likely have one of the most impressive camera sets in the smartphone world. Don’t believe us? Check out some camera samples from someone who got their hands on one.

Which other features will the Google Pixel 3 XL have?

The most significant feature from an aesthetic point of view is undeniably the notch. The Google Pixel 3 XL will feature the much-debated smartphone design, as well as a hefty “chin” at the base of the device – that’s to say, it’s far from bezel-less. This may disappoint anyone hoping for a true edge-to-edge display.

Other than the notch, the Pixel 3 XL will also feature wireless charging, the first time Google has adopted the innovative technology for its Pixel lineup.

Google Pixel 3 XL vs Google Pixel 2

As a Google Pixel 2 owner myself, these leaks are very exciting. Sure, the updates don’t show anything groundbreaking, but they do suggest Google is seriously honing its smartphone game.

The Pixel 2 infamously housed one of the best smartphone cameras on the market, and the Pixel 3 XL is poised to uphold that mantel and then some. The huge screen (even with its divisive notch) is an upgrade on the Pixel 2’s, and should help keep Google in the running for best phone of the year.

Even the addition of wireless charging proves Google is ready to compete with the best as the future gets brighter for smartphone technology.

Google Pixel 3All in all, the Pixel 3 XL won’t be a huge step up from the Pixel 2, at least not as far as these leaks are suggesting. As with many of 2018’s phones, there isn’t much different between generations, just improvements to the existing technology. Of course, we won’t know of any confirmed details until Google’s launch event, which should be happening imminently.

The Google Pixel 3

Amongst all the excitement about the Pixel 3 XL, it can be easy to forget about the smaller version of the flagship phone from Google. However, thanks to another leak from @SlashLeaks, we now know exactly what to expect from the Google Pixel 3. And, ladies and gentlemen, it’s notch-less.

That’s right, unlike it’s larger counterpart, the Google Pixel 3 will not have a notch, as we all breathe a sigh of relief. The noticeably rounded screen does provide a softer feel than the Pixel 2, but man, are we happy there isn’t a notch.

Additionally, like the Pixel 3 XL, the Pixel 3 will have a glass back for wireless charging, and it comes with a USB-C charging cable, a pair of wired Pixel Buds, and a goofy sticker that says “Team Pixel,” so you can swear allegiance to your Android overlords.
