One day I went to sleep and everything was normal on Facebook. When I woke up the next morning, Bitstrips had taken over.
If you’re not aware of what I’m talking about, Bitstrips is the company behind those little cartoon strips where people create cartoon images of themselves and their friends, and then add a caption like: “Will loves writing!” The Bitstrip would then be of me writing things; don’t underrate it, it’s insanely fun.
The company recently announced the launch of Bitmoji, an app for Android and iOS that turns people into their own set of personal emojis a la Bitstrips fashion. The decision was made after Bistrips saw tens of millions of avatars created on their web platform.
“Every chat window looks the same – plain text and generic emoji,” says the Bitmoji team. “We want to bring them to life, and make them feel as unique and personal as face-to-face conversations.”
The free Bitmoji apps make messaging more personal and can easily be used in text messages and favorite messaging apps including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Kik, and Line. Users only have to download the app, create an avatar, and watch it transform to hundreds of emojis and stickers that can be used instantly.
