OnePlus 9 Series and OnePlus Watch Announced

The OnePlus 9 series is equipped with great new cameras and displays and the OnePlus Watch is the company's first smartwatch.

OnePlus continues to impress, as the company has officially announced its new slate of smartphones, as well as its first smartwatch ever.

Known for its low prices and exceptional “hand-feel,” OnePlus has spent years as the go-to flagship killer, undercutting the big dogs like Apple and Samsung with high-tier specs and mid-range prices.  While not considered one of the better known smartphone companies in the world, it’s slowly inserted itself in the conversation with these impressively affordable devices.

Now though, OnePlus is poised to really make some noise, as the company has announced two new smartphones — the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro — as well as the company’s first smartwatch — the OnePlus Watch. We’ll go over some of the specs below and give you a first look at these brand new devices.

OnePlus 9

OnePlus started things off strong with the announcement of the OnePlus 9, an affordable yet high tier phone with specs to compete with the best of the best. Sure, it doesn’t offer much in the revolutionary category, but it offers a big beautiful display, an updated processor, and a hefty battery that should easily last all day.

Perhaps the biggest announcement of note as far as the OnePlus 9 is concerned is the camera. In a partnership with Hasselblad, the OnePlus 9 offers some serious camera power that will help you get “your best shot,” the recurring motto throughout the event.

As for the rest of the impressive specs, take a look at what the OnePlus 9 offers:

  • Display: 6.55 inch 120 Hz Fluid AMOLED
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888
  • RAM: 8GB or 12 GB
  • Battery: 4,500 mAh
  • Storage: 128GB or 256GB
  • Cameras: Three
    • Main: 48-megapixel
    • Ultra-wide: 50-megapixel
    • Monochrome: 2-megapixel

The OnePlus 9 is 5G-compatible, costs $729 and is available right now on the OnePlus website. Plus, if you act now, you can get a pair of OnePlus Buds free of charge with your order.

OnePlus 9 Pro

Now, if you’re looking for a smartphone that can compete with the likes of Samsung and Apple, the OnePlus 9 Pro is your best bet. This beast of a device offers an even smoother experience thanks to the just slightly larger AMOLED with LTPO display.

Again, the main story on the entire OnePlus 9 series is the camera set up. The OnePlus 9 Pro adds to the original device with an additional telephoto lens, also brought to you by Hasselblad, that can make your far off shots even more spectacular.

Take a look at some of the other impressive specs on the OnePlus 9 Pro to see if it’s the right Android alternative for you.

  • Display: 6.7 inch 120 Hz Fluid AMOLED with LTPO
  • Processor:  Qualcomm Snapdragon 888
  • RAM: 8GB or 12 GB
  • Battery: 4,500 mAh
  • Storage: 128GB or 256GB
  • Cameras: Four
    • Main: 48-megapixel
    • Ultra-wide: 50 megapixel
    • Telephoto: 8-megapixel
    • Monochrome: 2-megapixel

The OnePlus 9 Pro is 5G-compatible, costs $1,069 and is available right now on the OnePlus website. Plus, if you act now, you can get a pair of OnePlus Buds free of charge with your order.

OnePlus Watch

OnePlus Watch

While the OnePlus 9 series was the primary news from this anticipated launch event, the company couldn’t help but throw in something special to finish it off: the OnePlus Watch. This stylish smartwatch represents the company’s first foray into the wearable space (unless you include Bluetooth headphones as wearables, which we do not).

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the OnePlus Watch is the battery life. On a single charge, OnePlus claims the device will last up to 14 days for typical use, with up to 25 hours straight of exercise tracking with GPS. Plus, with its Warp Charge capabilities, the device can gain up to 7 days worth of charge in a mere 20 minutes.

The smartwatch comes with a bunch of other cool features, including stress tracking, parkour mode, and smartphone-free music. The OnePlus Watch will even be able to turn your TV off for you when you fall asleep, although the company admitted that this feature won’t be available right away.

The OnePlus Watch costs $159 and will be available on Wednesday, April 14th.
