Productivity Tips To Push You Through the Workday Slump

Let’s be honest – being productive as an employee can be challenging sometimes. Whether you’re more of a morning or a night person, we’re all susceptible to falling into the trap of the midday slump. Thankfully, there are ways to get around that.

Here are a few tips to help get you through the slump and be able to be your most productive self, as shared via Business Insider.

Think Positive

This may seem common, but having a positive attitude can have a dramatic effect on how your work day goes. This can be difficult to do, especially if you’re on a tight deadline or have a not-so-great work culture. However, staying positive and taking control of your attitude can lead to an increase in productivity, attentiveness, and overall work happiness.

Move Your Feet

Most people have jobs that require long hours staring at a screen and sitting at a dark cubicle. While it’s important to be able to sit and complete the tasks at hand, it’s also important that we’re getting what we need to thrive health-wise. It doesn’t have to be a complete gym session – during your lunch break, consider sitting outside and going for a brisk walk.

Not only does moving your feet help you get some valuable movement into your daily routine, but it can also give you mental clarity. The next time you’re pondering a difficult decision or a particularly challenging problem, consider the benefits that can come from indulging in some physical activity.

Schedule Your Top Time-Wasting Tasks

This can be challenging, but figuring out a schedule for designated times to indulge in your most time-wasting tasks – checking social media, emails, or other activities that you aren’t so excited about or can easily be distracted by.

Take the time before you start your work day to schedule blocks of time specifically designated to these time-wasting activities. Knowing that you have time to tackle them ahead of time can help curb the temptation to indulge in them in the middle of a more important task.

Assess Long-Term and Short-Term Goals

Goal setting is important, especially when you’re struggling to keep going during difficult times. Assess your own long-term and short-term goals; they’ll help you see the bigger picture of your work and keep you on the path of moving forward.

Though these tips may be already familiar to you, incorporating them more into your workday routine can help reduce stress and help you overcome that deadly midday slump.
