It was announced this morning that Shana Glenzer – who most recently held the role of vice president of social marketing at SocialRadar – has been named the new chief marketing officer at Aquicore, a Washington, D.C.-based startup that offers an analytics platform for energy efficiency management. In her new role, Glenzer will spearhead the company’s efforts to accelerate its customer acquisition after having recently raised $3.3 million in July.
“This is the perfect time to bring in Shana, a leading tech voice whose track record, creativity, and commitment to client service will help drive our strategic growth goals,” said Aquicore founder and CEO Logan Soya in a statement. “Aquicore has grown exponentially in the last two years and Shana has the extensive experience and insider’s knowledge we need to amplify our brand and craft compelling initiatives that generate engagement and community across markets and our client-base.”
In Glenzer’s previous role at SocialRadar, she led and designed the strategic marketing initiatives to connect users and app developers to the SocialRadar app and platform. She’s had extensive experience with community outreach in key markets, but – most importantly for Aquicore’s immediate needs – has played several key roles in the D.C. tech ecosystem. Aside from serving as the co-producer of DC Tech Meetup (one of the largest tech meetups in the country), Glenzer is a founding member of DCFemTech, a collective of more than 25 organizations throughout the D.C . region that aim to support women in tech. This year, she was featured in Washingtonian Magazine‘s list of “100 Top Tech Leaders”.
The news comes less than a month after Kevin Alansky similarly announced his departure from SocialRadar and his new role as chief marketing officer at the Vienna, VA-based CircleBack. Similar to Alansky, Glenzer reiterates SocialRadar’s shift from a consumer app to a B2B product as her motivation for departing the company.
“In the beginning when SocialRadar was building a consumer app, it needed expertise in marketing strategy and execution – and a lot of it,” says Glenzer. “Now that the focus has shifted to offering an SDK, the company strategy relies more on business to business selling and doesn’t require as robust of a marketing effort.”
While Glenzer admits excitement for her new role at Aquicore, she adds that she’s enthused about SocialRadar’s new direction:
“I’ve made great friendships growing up with the company and will always be a huge fan of SocialRadar. They’re on to something big with LocationKit and I’ll provide any helpful advice I can in the months ahead.”
