A More Personal Chat with Tony Hsieh about Shoes, Llamas, and Making Friends [VIDEO]

Being based in Las Vegas and funded by the Downtown Project, we’ve been lucky to talk with Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh a lot.

Two years ago at SXSW, we heard about his ambitious plans for revitalizing downtown Vegas with the $350 million Downtown Project.

That fall, after Tech Cocktail relocated its headquarters to Vegas, we sat down again with Hsieh to dive in deeper.

And this past December, Hsieh gave a talk at Tech Cocktail Celebrate about how the Downtown Project measures progress and what other cities can learn from it.

Rather than rehashing the same stories, we decided to mix it up this time. So this year at Tech Cocktail’s Startup Celebration sponsored by .CO and CEA, we avoided all the business questions and asked Hsieh about himself. As CEO of an ecommerce company that started out selling only shoes, when did he buy his last pair? Why does he love llamas so much? And is it hard to make friends? Watch him answer below.

Editor’s Note: Thank you to .CO and CEA, sponsors of Tech Cocktail’s 2014 SXSW Startup Celebration!
