Truffle Makes Restaurant Recommendations Personal For Once

While the Fourth of July and Christmas are holidays where food plays a starring role, there is only one holiday dedicated to feasting with the ones you love: Thanksgiving. With this special day right around the corner, it’s important to remember that the best thing about eating food is the people you get to share it with. Luckily for you, one app is hoping to change the way you interact with your favorite restaurants.

Truffle is an app designed to bring people together over food. This community-driven mobile app is designed to not only help you find great restaurants, but also to coordinate with great people to visit them with. You can ask friends for recommendations, and share your favorite places in the click of a button. No anonymous reviews, no information overload, just a collection of recommended restaurants curated by people you actually know. Which is pretty refreshing in a world filled with precarious recommendation apps.

“Recommendation apps have always asked us to choose places ourselves, but we’d have much more interesting options if we just traded our favorite places with our friends,” said Tom Limongello, cofounder and CEO of Truffle in a press release. “Truffle makes it easy for people to enter their preferences for their favorite places and have those lists handy to message their friends.”

In addition to providing this personalized social experience for the restaurant world, Truffle is dedicated to keeping your recommendations organized. With transportation being easier than ever and new eateries popping up all over major cities, it can be hard to remember where you’ve been told to eat. But with Truffle, there’s no more remembering, no more guessing, no more last-minute Googling. It’s all in one place.

“We now live in a world where car-sharing services make it so that we no longer worry so much about where restaurants are, but that also means that we have way too many options to research ourselves,” said Limongello.

It’s no secret that recommendations from your social network are more valuable than anything else. Friends and family know you better than anyone else and tapping their experience is the best way to guarantee you’ll enjoy wherever you’re going. That is, of course, unless you ask Aunt Ethel, who believes that IHOP is the best restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Truffle has launched out of public beta and you can download and test the app out here for iOS.
