The Venture Center in Little Rock announced the Global Investor Demo Day to be held at the Clinton Presidential Center in downtown Little Rock on Wednesday, August 3. Ten early-stage FinTech innovative companies – two international and eight from the U.S. – will present investor pitches for an expected crowd of 200-300 investors, regulators, financial services leaders and business leaders.
During the rigorous curriculum, focused on business development and traction, the founders have met with leading experts from sponsor FIS – a world leader in financial technology services. The VC FinTech portfolio companies have also leveraged connections with the banking community via the Arkansas Banker’s Association as well as a number of regional and national banks.
Governor Asa Hutchinson met recently with the portfolio founders at a private roundtable meeting at the Capitol. They discussed the growth of the FinTech space in Arkansas. In the 1960s, Central Arkansas was the “birthplace” of modern FinTech with the growth of Systematics (which was sold to Alltel and later became global leader, FIS), Arkansas Systems, Smiley Technologies, and more. The founders spoke at length with the Governor about the benefits of building innovative companies in Arkansas, highlighting a lower cost of doing business, while retaining access to global marketplace through the collaboration with FIS. The Governor, along with various City and State officials, is expected to attend the Global Investor Demo Day at the Clinton Presidential Center.
Investors and industry leaders attending the event will have a chance to mix with the founders at an afternoon cocktail hour following the formal investor presentations. In addition, there will be a formal VIP dinner at Forty-Two, the exclusive restaurant at the Clinton Center.
