Wix Acquires Rise.ai to Improve Ecommerce Platform

The gift card and loyalty company will make ecommerce on Wix that much more comprehensive and effective.

Wix users that are trying to sell products to their customers just got some good news, as the website builder has officially acquired Rise.ai to bolster its ecommerce offerings.

If you’re in the market to build a website, there’s no chance you haven’t heard of Wix before. It’s exceedingly easy to use and ridiculously stylish, giving even the freshest beginner a chance to create an attractive website that can attract customers. In fact, Wix is our top-rated website builder, and we’ve done quite a bit of research on the topic.

Now, with this new acquisition, Wix will provide some serious improvements to ecommerce businesses looking to make an impact on their bottom line.

Wix Acquires Rise.ai

Announced in a press release, Wix has officially acquired Rise.ai, a gift card and customer re-engagement for online brands, in hopes of improving the ecommerce offerings to their many users.

“We are excited to expand our offering and services as part of the Wix eCommerce strategy,” said Arik Perez, head of ecommerce at Wix.

Considering Wix users processed more than $5.4 billion in online transactions last year and saw a 140% growth in sales transactions from 2019 to 2020, it’s safe to say this kind of acquisition is the perfect fit for the website builder. But what exactly will this acquisition mean for ecommerce users?

How Will This Acquisition Improve Ecommerce on Wix?

This is no small acquisition as far as what it will add to the Wix ecommerce platform. According to the press release, users will get access to a wide range of useful features that will make retaining customers easier than ever.

That’s an important distinction, by the way. Rise.ai is aimed at retaining customers — rather than acquiring customers — through loyalty features, reward programs, and referral systems. And considering customer retention is a more affordable and more lucrative strategy, it’s safe to say Wix users are getting quite the upgrade.

“By providing merchants with more native tools, we can help them grow long-term customer value and revenues to build their businesses and keep optimizing and increasing profitability. Rise.ai is considered to be the best solution of its kind in the market, and the integration will enable merchants to easily manage and maintain customer engagement tools, ultimately leading to increased loyalty and revenue.”

More specifically, the new Rise.ai-powered Wix will be able to help users “increase order frequency, grow AOV (Average Order Value), drive repeat sales, and build customer relationships by providing value throughout the customer journey.”
