While Techstars has long been transparent about how their portfolio companies are doing, Y Combinator has kept their cards close to the chest – until now.

“We get asked a lot for statistics on the YC portfolio. Even though some of these aren’t that helpful, here is the latest update on the numbers we get asked about the most. As always, all the credit goes to the founders,” wrote president Sam Altman in a blog post

So far, Y Combinator has funded 716 companies, including 85 in the current batch (with 2 nuclear energy companies). Its acceptance rate is less than 3 percent. Here’s the rest of the data he shared:

  • Total market cap of all YC companies: >$30 billion
  • Total money raised by all YC companies: >$3 billion
  • Number of YC companies currently worth more than $1 billion: 3
  • Number of YC companies currently worth more than $100 million: >20
